SHUTTING DOWN BLOG

June 29, 2011

I’m closing down this blog….

I’ve decided I need more focus on what to write, and I’m moving my health stuff to sparkpeople.com.

Come check out my new blog: Crazy Cat Nerd. It’s still a personal blog, but it is more focused (cats, nerdy stuff).

A bit better; but an idea for improvement

June 13, 2011

Better than last week, but not as good as when Jimmy was gone! I’m having difficulty keeping up with the Wiifit and Hooping since he has kind of taken over the basement. I just need to try to complete my health goals earlier in the day, and work on other things in my office when he is home in the evening.

New Goals: I’ve changed my mind (again!)…and I am going to change some of the goals even if I don’t complete all of them. I’m anxious to increase my water intake and improve my nutrition.

So…the 1.5 I gained last week? I lost it and then some this week!

Weight Change: -1.8 from previous; +4.4 from initial

Last Week’s Goals: (3 of 8… still taking steps backward)

Steps: Failed. The pedometer is AWOL. No idea where it went.

Spark Points:Failed. Earn 45 points on sparkpeople…I managed 32, though.

This coming week’s goals…

I’ve decided when I’m only going to move goals forward when I complete all of them. So this week will pretty much be a repeat of last week.

Giveaway at SoapOpi!

May 12, 2011

I’m currently hosting a giveaway at SoapiOpi!

In case you are not aware, I craft soap as a hobby. I sell my soap to friends and family at prices that just cover the cost of my materials- I’m not doing it for the money, but because I enjoy playing with color and scent. 🙂

My facebook page: SoapiOpi is where I post items I have for sale.

Currently, I am hosting a giveaway. By simply leaving a comment on which scent you’d be most interested in seeing me create soap with, you are entered to win one of THREE prizes.

Currently, there are less than 25 people entered to win, so your odds aren’t bad. I will ship the soap free, as well…so it’s 100% free. 🙂

When I hit 25 entries, I will add another prize into the mix!

I’m running this giveaway as a thank you to the fans of my fb page, to celebrate SoapiOpi having over 50 fans on facebook, and to get my soap to a couple of folks who might not have purchased any yet.

The contest ends tomorrow…so run over to SoapiOpi now!

Movie Night: Up

May 12, 2011

On our April 29th movie night, we watched the Disney film Up.

From wikipedia:

“Up is a 2009 computer-animated comedy-adventure film produced by Pixar Animation Studios, distributed by Walt Disney Pictures and presented in Disney Digital 3-D. The film premiered on May 29, 2009 in North America and opened the 2009 Cannes Film Festival, becoming the first animated and 3D film to do so.

The film centers on an elderly widower named Carl Fredricksen and an earnest young Wilderness Explorer named Russell who fly to South America by floating in a house. The film has received overwhelmingly positive reviews, with a rating of 98% on Rotten Tomatoes (the best reviewed wide-released film of 2009 on the site), and grossed over $731 million worldwide, making it Pixar’s third-most commercially successful film, behind Finding Nemo and Toy Story 3.”

A house is hovering in the air, lifted by balloons. A dog, a boy, and an old man hang beneath on a garden hose

This movie is adorable! It’s extremely charming, moving, and a lot of fun. I would highly recommend it for any age, and I see why it made the Top 250 list.

Wordle

I LOVE how the two largest words say “Average Week”. Yep, last week was an average week, lol.

Top250 Movie #4

May 10, 2011

The fourth movie I watched from the Top250 list was Ikiru.

From Wikipedia:

“Ikiru (生きる “To Live”?) is a 1952 Japanese film co-written and directed by Akira Kurosawa. The film examines the struggles of a minorTokyo bureaucrat and his final quest for meaning.”

This is definitely not a movie I would have decided to watch if it weren’t for my list.

The movie was fascinating, interesting, unique, depressing, thought provoking, creepy, amusing and occasionally dull. Some scenes and pauses seemed to last way longer than you would expect. The message of the movie turned out to be different than what I thought it was going to be in the beginning. I don’t think I’d watch it again, but I enjoyed it well enough.
